In his current role, Guy now works with colleagues to ensure a world-class service provision to our customers and end users across the globe.

As Head of Technical Partnerships, Tom leads the UKHO’s collaboration with technical partners including Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to enable the development of e-navigation products and S-100 solutions for Electronic Chart and Information Display Systems (ECDIS).

Tom works at the forefront of the latest ‘next generation’ navigation technologies to support the implementation of new standards that can help improve safety, efficiency and optimisation.

Rhett Hatcher

Job description
Chief Executive, UK Chamber of Shipping
Body

Rhett joined the Chamber of Shipping as the CEO in March 2024, after leaving the Royal Navy and most recently the role of UK National Hydrographer, Deputy Chief Executive and Director for Defence and Data Acquisition at the UK Hydrographic Office.

During his time in the Navy, Rhett served as a bridge watchkeeper, attack helicopter pilot, warfare officer and Joint staff officer on operations all over the world. He held sea and air command appointments in HM Ships Penzance, Bulwark and Protector and 815 Naval Air Squadron respectively.

Loss Prevention Director, NorthStandard

John joined NorthStandard in December 2016 as part of the Loss Prevention department.

John is a Master Mariner and joined from a survey and marine consultancy company. Previous to this, John was engaged in shipyard operations conducting new build DP vessel projects in Asia as an owner’s project representative. He also worked at sea for 16 years, initially on Container Vessels with P&O Nedlloyd, and then on board offshore vessels including a range of DP vessels, AHTS, PSVs, drilling units, and offshore wind farm construction lift boats.

John will join our experts for the panel discussion on Wednesday, 4 September.

Mads Friis Sørensen

Senior Platform Product Owner, Maersk
Body

Mads is the product owner of Mærsk’s voyage planning and execution application, focusing on safety and fuel efficiency.

Mads has 20+ years of experience in the maritime industry, working for organisations like Thrane & Thrane, FURUNO, Wärtsilä SAM Electronics, the Danish Maritime Authority and A. P. Møller-Mærsk A/S. His work focus has been on maritime communication and navigation systems and voyage planning, optimisation and execution tools, including exploring e-navigation and autonomous ship system design and driving cloud-based crew training solution design and business globally.

Mads will join our experts for the panel discussion on Thursday, 5 September.
